Based on a succesfull relationship spanning many years of mechanical and turbine controls retrofits, Europe's largest fertilizer company now also has chosen Turner ECS to perform the upgrade on their nitric acid compressor train. The current control cabinet was previously delivered by Turner ECS and included, besides the steam turbine control, also the third party NA7 Surge Prevention Controller and 2003 Surge Detector.
In the new cabinet both the steam turbine and compressor control will be integrated into a MicroNet Plus dual redundant control system with triple redundant I/O for the surge input and trip output. The integrated turbine and compressor control software will be developed based on Turner ECS's wide experience in Europe and the Middle East with similar compressor projects. Besides the control system, Turner ECS will also perform the mechanical retrofit of the trip system (with Woodward's QuickTrip) and the surge detection system.
